For Ushtrasana you have to follow some steps:

  • Fold the leg at the knee and place the foot under the left buttock.
  • Similarly, fold the right leg and place the foot under the right buttock.
  • Place both the heels so that the big toes overlap each other.
  • Position the buttocks in the space between the heels.
  • Keep the hands on respective knees.
  • Then put the hands on the heels in such a position that the fingers of hands remain inside the big toes of the feet.
  • Inhaling, bend the head and neck backward and lift the back above.
  • Exhaling, sit on the knees.
  • Maintain this position 6-8 seconds

Benefits of Ushtrasana

  • It is quite beneficial for the respiratory system.
  • It strengthen the lungs.
  • It removes the ailments of spinal chord.

More about Ushtrasana

The word 'Ushtrasana' is made of two sanskrit words; 'ushtra' which means 'camel' and 'asana' means 'posture' . In this asana the body gives the appearance of a camel.
